What People Are Saying

“From Robbie's first sound art performance with Jess, she was absolutely connected to the sounds and she had amazing engagement for extended periods. Bringing the sound art to Jess was extremely important because she is permanently bedridden and cannot leave our house, so she is totally dependent upon the typically limited variety of activities that can normally be brought to her. Robbie initially began by listening to what we thought might be the right type of sound triggers for Jess' enjoyment and he then proceeded to improvise with his 'bag of tricks', ultimately identifying the types of sounds that Jess enjoyed. In a follow-up session with Jim, Jess was super chilled and relaxed with different types of sounds. It gave us great joy and also excitement to take a back seat as audience members and watch Jess have so much enjoyment and relaxation — her smiles and laughter, together with far less usage of the suction equipment that is normally very regularly required by her, demonstrated to us that with this form of stimulation, there are untold wellbeing benefits waiting to be quantified.”

“Working with Robbie at Safe in Sound has been a life-changing experience for my brother. Being non-verbal, my brother often faces challenges in expressing his inner world, but Robbie has a unique gift for finding the exact instruments and sounds that resonate with him. Through music, Robbie has provided him with a powerful outlet for expression that transcends words. Seeing my brother perform on various platforms alongside others has been a joy; the happiness and confidence it has brought him are immeasurable. We are so grateful for Robbie's dedication and his ability to see and hear my brother in a way few others can.”

Larry Larsen (Mathew's brother)

“I have noticed since Robbie has been visiting that Abanoub has very much enjoyed his performances. Abanoub even makes the effort to perform with Robbie at times. This is very important to us, as we never have performances of this kind come to our home. The concerts are a great opportunity for Abanoub and bring great joy and knowledge to our home.”

“I would like to thank Robbie and Carolyn for the wonderful musical experience that they provided for my daughter Amber. Amber's condition means she has decreased vision and mobility, but to see the look of absolute joy and excitement on her face as she composed her own unique "music" with Robbie and Carolyn was priceless. It was a timely reminder for me that some of the most creative experiences in life occur when you stop restricting yourself with what is considered "correct" and let your imagination run free.”

Jenni Vick (Amber's mother)

“We are so blessed to have been part of your very special music experience. The boys had an absolute ball. So many emotions, feelings and reactions were shared. Thanks for the diversity and allowing my boys to be immersed in such a variety of sounds and music. We look forward to seeing you again and sharing more wonderful moments through this beautiful art called music.”
